Event Summary
In-Season Training Events
Swimming in Upper Mystic Lake
Once the lake is warm enough on Tuesdays and Thursdays teammates will ride together to Upper Mystic Lake to swim (and sometimes run). There is an option for an extended bike route for those interested, and the swim is usually about 0.7 miles.
Tuesday Training Tri
Tuesday afternoons in season we have the privilege of using the private lakefront backyard of a friend of the team to host our triathlon training. Teammates come and can train the swim, bike, run, and transition without worrying about the security of their gear.
Ad-hoc Events at Walden Pond and Elsewhere
Keep your eyes on our email list for impromptu Saturday & Sunday training events. A number of teammates make weekly bike trips to Walden Pond, others simply organize long bike rides or bike/run bricks. These and other events will be coordinated via an email from a ride leader to the listserv during the week.
Winter Training Events
MIT Pool Swims
A group of teammates gather on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the MIT pool (membership required). Workouts can be provided, or simply motivation partners.
Virtual Training Rides
Members set up their Zoom client and push each other through the workout together, led by a teammate.
Sunday Runday
Every Sunday the team gets together for a long(ish) run (typically 4-6 mi.) through Cambridge, Somerville, Arlington, or nearby areas. Often there is coffee and snacks afterwards for a mini-social event.
Year Round Training Events
Track Runs
When the track is clear of snow and ice we meet Wednesday mornings before work to get some intervals in. This is usually at the Tufts Track, but is occasionally at Danehy Park in Cambridge.
Activities with Other Clubs
Throughout the season most of us train with one or more additional cycling and running clubs. Popular activities include rides with the Charles River Wheelers, and running with the Somerville Road Runners (www.srr.org) and with Tracksmith.
